Laser Hair Removal: How It Works & What to Expect
Shaving, waxing, repeat — laser hair removal exists to break that cycle. It's one of the most popular treatments we offer because, done properly over a course of sessions, it delivers a real, lasting reduction in unwanted hair.
How laser targets hair
The laser delivers light that's absorbed by the pigment in the hair, heating the follicle at the root and disabling its ability to regrow. Because it works on hair in its active growth phase, you need a series of sessions to catch every follicle at the right time.
How many sessions?
Most areas need a course of 6–8 sessions, spaced roughly 6–8 weeks apart. You'll usually see noticeable thinning after the first few. Hair grows in cycles, so consistency and spacing matter more than any single appointment.
How to prep
- Shave the area the day before — don't wax or pluck, as the root needs to be intact.
- Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for about two weeks beforehand.
- Come with clean skin — no lotions, deodorant or makeup on the area.
Afterwards
Mild redness, like a light sunburn, is normal for a day or so. Keep the area cool, wear SPF, and avoid hot tubs and intense workouts for 24–48 hours. Our technicians will set your spacing and walk you through everything at your first visit.
